BlackBerry BASIC FAQ's!!!

Được đăng bởi Unknown vào lúc 10:35 AM 0 nhận xét
What does unlocking mean?

First, you should understand why phones are locked in the first place. Network providers lock phones so that that you are forced to use their network at their rates. No other SIM card will work in their phones. You cannot take advantage of better rates from other providers. A locked phone is subject to roaming charges.
When you unlock your phone, you are free of these restrictions. There is no more restriction placed on the phone by a network carrier.

Are there advantages to unlocking my phone?

After a phone is unlocked, you are free to use any network and any SIM card of your choosing. You can insert and use SIM cards purchased while abroad and take advantage of better rates for calls and SMS messaging.
You no longer pay roaming charges, and you can switch back and forth between carriers/networks. Other advantages are the increased resale value of your phone. Locking is a guaranteed safe procedure for your phone and cannot harm it.

What is a SIM?

A SIM stands for a 'subscriber information module'. It is a chip inserted into a GSM handset and allows the phone to work within a given network. It identifies who you are, knows to send calls to you when your number is dialed and also controls your calling rates according to your contract or pay-as-you go carrier plan.

How do I know if my phone is locked or not?

That's a simple one. Just borrow a SIM card from a friend that comes from an alternative carrier from yours. If the phone works, your phone is unlocked. If you get an error message, it means that your phone is locked.

Do I have to unlock my phone every time I change SIM cards?

No. Once unlocked, your phone stays unlocked.

Do I save money by unlocking my phone?

Yes. While you will still be paying your provider the usual monthly rate, you can save money by using other SIM cards for other regions or countries if you are traveling. You can avoid roaming charges and you can search around for better rates wherever you are.

How much technical knowledge do I need to unlock my phone?

None at all. The instructions are easy to follow and simply require that you be able to enter the code unlocking number on your keypad. If you can dial a telephone number, you can unlock via code.

Please find the detailed Instructions here -BlackBerry Unlocking Instructions

Can unlocking harm my phone?

No. Unlocking simply removes the network and SIM locks imposed by your network carrier. However, you should check your contract and paperwork to make sure that it doesn't affect your phone's warranty or that it breaks the terms and conditions of your contract. There is always the possibility that if you enter the wrong code (or a previous owner has tried) too many times that it will permanently lock your phone.

Blackberry Z10 Stuck in recovery logo(solution)

Được đăng bởi Unknown vào lúc 10:18 AM 0 nhận xét
Problem

BlackBerry 10 smartphone does not load, immediately after powering on a logo is displayed on the screen indicating that the device should be connected to a computer with a USB cable.

Resolution
To recover the BlackBerry 10 smartphone complete the following steps. NOTE - this procedure is only available on a Windows PC.

  1. Shutdown BlackBerry Link (and BlackBerry Desktop Software if installed).
  2. Detach all BlackBerry smartphones, including the BlackBerry 10 smartphone that cannot be booted up.
  3. Using Internet Explorer navigate to BlackBerry Software Updates, scroll down the page and select the Check for Updates button.
  4. Connect the BlackBerry 10 smartphone that cannot be booted up.
  5. Hold the power button for 10 seconds until it turns off, then press the power button again so it turns on. A prompt will appear and the BlackBerry smartphone will show in the drop down list shortly after the LED lights up as red (it could show up as USB: UNKNOWN or USB: BlackBerry (PIN) – both are normal/fine). Click the OK Button as soon as it becomes enabled. NOTE: there is only 15 seconds to do this. Note: Once the above steps are completed successfully a dialog will be displayed stating Checking for BlackBerry Device Software updates.
The BlackBerry 10 smartphone will now power itself off after 120 seconds. Shortly after the 120 seconds, the BlackBerry smartphone LED should turn green. Continue to wait after the LED turns green and you will be prompted to install BlackBerry Device Software. Follow the prompts to install the BlackBerry Software and once the installation is complete the smartphone will boot up and is now recovered.
i think this useful for blackberry technicians,

How to perform a security wipe of a Smartphone BlackBerry Z10

Được đăng bởi Unknown vào lúc 8:05 AM 0 nhận xét
Some useful information every BlackBerry smartphone owner should know how is how to perform a security wipe. This process is designed to permanently delete your personal data so it can’t be recovered from the smartphone. With that being said, here a few important things you should know when performing a security wipe followed by instructions on how to perform a security wipe on a BlackBerry Z10 smartphone.
  • If you are using an encrypted microSD card, you will need to turn off media card encryption before starting the security wipe, otherwise you will not be able to access files stored on your microSD card. To review your encryption settings, while viewing the Home screen, tap Settings followed by Security and Privacy. Within this menu, set the Media Card Encryption switch to Off and wait for the decryption process to finish before initiating a security wipe.
  • A security wipe can take up to 15 minutes or longer, and it’s important that the security wipe operation is left to complete on its own. In other words, after starting a security wipe, do not remove the battery or attempt to restart the smartphone, otherwise you may run into unexpected issues. If the security wipe operation was interrupted and the smartphone is encountering issues, please review the section below titled ‘Help! I performed a security wipe and now my smartphone won’t turn on!’
  • A security wipe will erase all data and any downloaded apps, games and multimedia content, such any photos taken from the smartphone (data saved to your microsd will not be removed). If you would like to save this information, consider backing up the smartphone using BlackBerry Link for Windows or Mac before proceeding further. For information on how to do this, review KB33526 that can be found in the BlackBerry Knowledge Base.
  • Apps and games purchased from BlackBerry World will need to be reinstalled after performing a security wipe. To do this, open BlackBerry World, tap All followed by My World. Tap My Apps & Games followed by Available and you will be able to re-install any purchased apps or games by opening the item and tapping Reinstall.
  • Settings and configuration settings will be reset to default after performing a security wipe, which means you will need to pair with Bluetooth devices again, for example.
  • Ensure that the BlackBerry Z10 smartphone is plugged into the power outlet to prevent power loss during the security wipe.

Now that you are familiar with the important facts about performing a security wipe, here’s how to perform a security wipe.
  1. While viewing the Home screen, swipe down from the top of the screen and tap Settings
  2. Tap Security and Privacy followed by tapping Security Wipe
  3. Enter the word blackberry to confirm the security wipe process
  4. Tap Delete Data
  5. The security wipe process can take up to 15 minutes to complete, do not attempt to restart the BlackBerry 10 smartphone or pull the battery until the BlackBerry 10 has completed the Security Wipe.
When the security wipe has been completed, the initial setup process will need to be completed before the BlackBerry 10 smartphone can be used.
Help! I performed a security wipe and now my smartphone won’t turn on!
As mentioned earlier, if the battery is removed or you attempted to restart the smartphone during a security wipe operation, you may run into trouble on your smartphone. In the event that this has occurred, please review KB33480 – Reloaded a BlackBerry 10 smartphone after an interrupted security wipe for information on how to recover your BlackBerry Z10 smartphone.

BlackBerry Z10 vs BlackBerry Q10: Which phone is the best choice?

Được đăng bởi Unknown vào lúc 7:47 AM 0 nhận xét

BlackBerry succeeded by answering the bell with two quality devices: the Z10 and Q10. I’ve been spending a lot of time with both the BlackBerry Z10 and BlackBerry Q10 to find out which is best. So I happily gave my perspective in a brief breakdown. Enjoy!

Under the Hood (Specs)

Device

Display
4.2-inch, LCD, resolution of 1280 x 768 pixels, and 356 pixels per inch
3.1-inch, S-AMOLED, resolution of 720 x 720 pixels,

1.5 GHz dual-core Qualcomm MSM8960
Memory

8MP rear camera, 1080p HD video recording, and 2MP front-facing camera that records 720p HD
Platform
BlackBerry 10 (10.1 update still rolling out)
BlackBerry 10.1

As you can see from the chart above, the BlackBerry Z10 and BlackBerry Q10 are almost identical when it comes to specs. However, I found the Q10 offered a better quality screen that also provided more impressive viewing angles. This is due to the Z10’s lesser quality LCD display that only pumps out a resolution of 1280 x 768 pixels, while the Q10’s S-AMOLED 720p screen flourishes above. It’s not even close.
What I didn’t mention in the chart was the difference in battery capacity. For some odd reason, BlackBerry decided to go with a smaller 1800 mAh battery inside the Z10. The Q10 comes with a 2100 mAh battery that’s also removable. The battery life is noticeably different — edge goes to the Q10.

Look and Feel

To no  surprise, both the Z10 and Q10  share superb hardware. These devices aren’t plasticky or cheap, instead, they represent a past where a phone’s build quality was a top priority. Still, after handling both phones I’d have to give the advantage to the Z10. The Z10 just feels better in the hand than the Q10. Hell, this year’s touch screen BlackBerry 10 device resembles the iPhone in many ways, as it gives off a feel much similar to the iPhone 5.
Yet, there’s something to be said about the nostalgia that overcomes you once you feel a physical keyboard in your hands. Suddenly, you feel more important, more business-like — I can’t explain it. However, the reality is, QWERTY keypad phones are a relic in time gone by. Do I believe they should stay around? Sure. Just like I how I feel vinyls or CD’s should stay around.

What’s the best choice?

In the end, I came to the conclusion that the handset that appeals to the larger majority of smartphone customers is the Z10. This device represents what people are accustomed to in the year 2013, while the Q10 appeals to a shrinking customer base that prefers a physical keypad over a virtual one.

In addition, smartphone buyers are becoming more attracted to devices with bigger screens — just think the Galaxy S and Note series. A 3.1-inch display won’t make people come back to BlackBerry. The Z10 is BlackBerry’s re-entry into a market that appeals to those thirsty for a decent sized touchscreen smartphone that can handle day-to-day tasks.
So it’s simple. If you don’t want to upgrade away from the style and feel of your old BlackBerry handset, go with the Q10. But, if you want a change, I’d recommend you give the Z10 a shot.
